The change an airport shuttle fleet saw.

In Texas heat, extended idling was pushing an airport shuttle fleet’s engines to the limit. Engines overheated, some caught fire, and oil analysis showed that the oils the fleet had tried were not lasting even 3,000 miles—short of its scheduled 5,000-mile changes.

The fleet switched to AMSOIL in 2013. After its first oil change, the overheating stopped. Oil lasted longer, engine-compartment fires ceased, and the fleet experienced fewer engine overhauls and wiring-harness replacements. The fleet continued using AMSOIL when its buses were later replaced.

15,000 milesbecame the fleet’s oil-change interval. Oil analysis at that point indicated the oil remained fit for continued use, but the fleet changed it then to match its preventive-maintenance schedule.
